Juliana Beasley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, 1967. After graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1990, she began working as a freelance photographer, covering New York City nightlife for the Village Voice. She is the author of Lapdancer (PowerHouse Books, 2003), an intimate photographic and text account of the world of strip clubs.

In the Fall of 2005, Beasley held her first one-woman show at Galleri Kontrast in Stockholm, Sweden. Her images have appeared in many major publications, including American Photo, Men’s Health and The New Yorker in the US, and Max in Germany. She has been affiliated with Contact Press Images since 2003 and is based in New York City.
